Holiday Gift Selections
At Hamel Family Wines, some of our most cherished holiday memories are of spending time with family and friends, while enjoying food and obviously some wine. In the spirit of making your own wonderful memories like these (and to help ease the process of planning and gift-giving…), we have carefully curated seven unique selections this year containing library and current release wines.
In recent vintages, we purposefully held back a limited quantity of each wine in our library for future offerings. Well, what better time to officially release a few of these library vintages than with our first holiday gift selections? We have put together four distinct, three-bottle selections presented in a wooden box.
Olivier Krug is of the sixth generation of Krug Champagne and once said, “The magnum is the perfect size bottle for two people, when one person isn’t drinking.” With that in mind, what better gift to give or bottle to bring to dinner or a party this holiday season than a Hamel Family Wines magnum? We are offering three of our current releases in magnum format, also outfitted in a wooden box.
All of these special gift selections are limited in quantity and offered on a first come, first served basis during the holiday season only. Wherever you find yourself this holiday season, we hope it’s surrounded by family and friends and that Hamel Family Wines can play a small part in your celebrations this year.
Gift cards with personalized messages are available at no additional cost. If you would like to include a gift card and personal message, please include your message in the Gift Message box when entering the receiver's mailing address.
To guarantee delivery for Christmas and New Year’s, please submit your order no later than December 12th.
These Cabernet Sauvignon blends (Pamelita Reserve, Nuns Canyon Vineyard and Hamel Family Ranch), are three of the finest wines we’ve produced to date. Offered through allocation this past spring, we tucked a few away for holiday gifting, creating another unique opportunity to acquire these exclusive wines.
Hamel Family Ranch is our home base. When we acquired this unique vineyard in 2010, Hamel Family Wines was officially born. This vertical, spanning the first three vintages of these vineyard designate Cabernet Sauvignon blends, shows how the terroir responds to three completely different growing seasons. Normally only released through allocation, this trio of Cabernet Sauvignon blends from our Hamel Family Ranch vineyard is a rare offering that is a true piece of Hamel Family Wines’ history.
Explore these Cabernet Sauvignon blends through a three-vintage vertical that includes Isthmus’ inaugural 2011 vintage through the 2013 vintage, which famed wine critic and writer Robert Parker opined that “2013…in Napa and Sonoma…has produced the finest wines I have tasted in 37 years.” That said, what better way to celebrate the holiday season than proclaiming “Merry Isthmus!”?
This vertical of Zinfandels from our Hamel Family Ranch vineyard have all been pulled from the library and are perfect for any Zinfandel connoisseur. Each express the singularity of their vintage, making it fun to compare and contrast.
A dark red color in the glass, the wine shows an aromatic interplay of dark plums, blackberries, violets, caramel and nutmeg. Cassis, soy and earth notes emerge on the palate, which broadens out through the mid-palate to a long and extended finish. A stony minerality adds an additional layer of complexity. While the wine is accessible in its adolescence, it will only continue to gain intricacy and depth over the next ten years.
Displaying a scarlet color in the glass, this wine immediately offers tantalizing aromas of fresh plum and dark cherry, interwoven with hints of graphite, vanilla, nutmeg and tobacco. On the palate, the elegance of the texture, coupled with the sweet red fruit flavors, lead to an expression of vibrancy and finesse. Kirsch, clove and loamy earth flavors emerge with a subtle saline tinge, outlined by a smooth structure that is ambitious and persistent in its expansive finish. The concentration of this wine provides immense drinking pleasure now, but also indicates promise for a long, graceful aging in the years to come.
A pure garnet color in the glass, the wine displays aromas of blueberries, dried dark fruit, licorice, exotic spice and crushed rock over a subtle balsamic note. The addition of a herbaceous sense of fennel pollen and bay laurel on the nose reflects the chaparral on the hillsides that surround the vineyard. Expansive and juicy from the front to the mid-palate, this wine is exuberant in its concentration and length. While it’s a powerful wine in its youth, it is accessible now and will only continue to develop in complexity and depth over the next five years.
